3 Things To Keep In Mind When Riding ATV Trails
ATV trails are meant for everyone, so be considerate, and share the trail! Wednesday, March 10, 2010
All around the country, ATV trails have been constructed through the woods and forests, in the hopes of providing recreation, and keeping ATV riders off other people's private property. ATV trails can be a great way for a family to get out and spend some quality time together, or just go on a sightseeing tour of the forest. ATV trails are meant for fun, so make sure you act appropriately, and keep the following things in mind for safety and courtesy!
ATV trails are there for a purpose, and most have rules. These rules should always be obeyed. One of the primary rules that most places have is to stay on the trail! Even if this rule is not explicitly stated, you should still always stay on the trail. Wandering off the trail can endanger yourself and the wildlife, and the woods there are not designated for ATV use. Some trails have free-roaming areas where you can leave the road, but you should always find out before considering it!
Remember, you are not the only one riding the ATV trails through the forest! There are other people out to have a good time as well. If you are moving slowly, and another group comes up behind you a little faster, try moving aside and letting them pass you. This is simply common courtesy, and you would want someone to do the same for you if you were going faster than them!
ATV trails are not racetracks, so you should not be flying down the trail at high speeds. This is true especially if you do not know what is ahead. You could injure yourself simply because you do not know the terrain. Regardless, speeding along the trail can result in many consequences, such as you being asked to leave and never return!
ATV trails have etiquette just like the dinner table, so it is a good idea to do your best to follow the rules. If you do observe the rules and etiquette of the ATV trails, you will find your experience enjoyable and memorable!
